11 January

Wednesday 11th. At Musm. Finished Cleop. A. XVI. These annals

^are the composition of three several writers. From 1299 to 1325,

by ######Robert de Redyng, monk of Westmr. who #####gives an #####account

of the death of Aymer de Valence ^Earl# of Pembroke, which

I have in vain sought for elsewhere. Adam Murimuth

continues the Chronicle to 1345. and thence, to the end, 1376,

is the work of John de R. a monk also of Westmr.

Began to copy the remaing Charters post Conquest

of my old friend the Chertsey ChartryVit. A. XIII.

Met Henry at 4, & called on the Browns, Portland Place,

not in town yet. Went to the Rices, & met there young

John Brown of Purbrook, an old acquaintance of mine,

who is now at Clare Hall Cambridge, with ^Henry Victor and

Reeks. This perhaps will be pleasant for me when

I am ######at Cambridge. We dined at the Rices, & afterwards,

walked to Hatchett’s, to see Weyland Powell, who is in

town. He was out, so ^we went to the ^Royal Institution ^Albermarle St. & read the

Reviews till 11 oC.
