28 January

Saturday 28th. At Musm. & waited for an hour but Mr Petrie did not

arrive. Wrote a letter to Mr Roscoe, fixing the 1st. March as the

period for my leav’g town. Met my brother & promised to go to

Fulham tomorrow. Received from Harding the 5th no. of

Blore’s Monts. and a copy of his Catalogue for this year, which

contains some curious articles on Chess, but far beyond my prices.

I cannot think what Dr. Bliss is about. He has never written to

me since ##### October last,- & I am anxious to hear from

him, relative to my Rooms at Magd. Hall. In the Ev~g. read

Sophocles, which I have been doing for these last two or three

nights. Mem. I finished the correction of the Variorum notes ^to Suetonius on

Tuesday Ev’g. It only remains now, to compare them with

the Delphin & reject the duplicates.
