Wednesday 29th. Called at 12 oC. & remained till 4.
but could not for a moment see M. alone. It has
vexed me to death _ & I feel excessively angry at
such treatment. I did not come to see Mrs D. but
her daughter. I have obtained permission however
for M. to go the Ball tomorrow night at the old
Ship – with the Rooks. This is a great point – as she
will be entirely left to me. Miss H. & Anne are
not well enough to go. Tant mieux!
