9 June

Friday 9th. At Musm. Mr Petrie there. We were employed in

examining, one of the MSti deplorabiles, or, in other words, one of

those ^Cotton MSS [Tib. A. XV.] which suffered by the fire ^in 1731. It is of ^the 11th Centy. & contains

a number of Epistles of Alcuin & others, many of them in=

edited. This is a valuable discovery, & made Petrie quite

happy. Received a letter f’m Dr. Bliss, telling me to come down

by 12oC. at night on Saturday, or else I shd. lose my term.

Met my brother & went with him to the ^Royal Institn. for an hour.

In the Ev’g settled all my affairs at the Graafs, & packed

up my things. I have now cleared away everything, as it

is my intention to bid adieu to Bedford St. & take lodgings

hereafter.
