Saturday. 25th. At Musm from## 10 till 4. with Mr P. Finished our collation of
MS. Gurny.; Domit. A. 8; Bibl. Reg 11. B. II. & Claud. D. 2. The last differs
very much, but agrees better with Bibl. Reg. than the others. It is written
at the end of Edw. I. reign, or beginning of Edw. 2. It contains, besides these
laws,- a collection from## Hen. 2d. to Edw. 2ds. time,- great part in ^a hand
of ^the 15th Centy. At fol. 123 is Richd. I.st’s Charter to Portesmue;- in
which the Hoiland that used to puzzle me so, Mr Petrie tells me refers
to the Fair of St Botulph at Boston, Lincolnshire. Besides these
copies of the### laws, there is a late transcript sec. 15. ^in MS. Harl. 785. The
# I am to take the whole home,- & write out fair the VV. LL. which
will give me not a little trouble. I found a letter from## Mr Coke,- in
which he ###says, he shall be happy to see me, &c. – I propose going
on Wedn.y next. I met Henry – & walked with him for an hour.
I have finished ^the transcript of Palgrave‘s copy of ^Kyng Horn,- but have not been
able to complete the Harln. copy. In fact I have so much to
do, that I know not which way to turn. — Sophocles must be
put aside for the present. I have heard nothing more from Valpy.
