Friday 3d. At Musm. Finished Will. Rishanger, – whose Chronicle
is entirely
confined to the accounts of the battles of Lewes & Evesham, & the causes
of the dissension.* He has many curious particulars not to be met with
elsewhere. He was a monk of St. Alban’s. – I then commenced from the
same MS. “Liber Chronicorum editus ad instantiam venerabilis patris
nostri Johannis, abbatis Sancti Albani,” &c.+ – from 1259 to 12936 written in
a fine square hand of the period, but very incorrectly. A rainy wet
day. Dined out at Mrs. L.^ Goldsmid’s; only a family party of the
De Visme’s, &c.
* It was edited for the Camden Society in 1840 by J. O. Halliwell
+ Edited in 1866 by H. T. Riley for the Master of the Rolls.
