Friday 16th. In Bodln. From our ### Hall ###Library I have procured
Fabricius (old Ed.) & Montfaucon’s Bibl. Coisl. so that I am
able to do a great deal in my own rooms. Received a letter
from my aunt Powell, favored by the Revd. W.m Guille of
Oriel College. The County Election commenced to-day. I saw
Ashhurst make his entry. Hustings have been erected in
Broad St., & there is every appearance of a contest. The town
is filled – & blue & purple flags & ribbons are seen in
every fool’s hands.
