Wednesday 17th. First day of term. Did not go to Chapel at all,
but in the lib.y all day, hard at work at the ^Greek Fathers.
Dined with Tuckwell. Our Vice was there, & about nine
other men. Rather dull – as I always find it among men.
Give me only a woman – a pretty woman – to talk to and I
am content, – but among men I am melancholy & not inclined
to utter a word. Dear M! – Read Herodotus, when I returned
home, for tomorrow’s lecture. Mr.Dr. Chapman, librarian of
Magdn.^ College called at the Bodln. this mor~g. & will be happy to see
me at the College ######on Friday at ten oC.
