Friday 21.st At ten oC. went to the lecture on Virgil, but found
it was such wretched work, that I shall go no more. I
know more than the tutor himself,- & as for his scholars,
one of them translated in 8th Ecl. of Virg. ‘limus‘ a lime
tree! – #and ‘in Ponto‘ — in the sea!! From 11 till 12. Livy,
which I like very much. The Vice is a very sensible
gentlemanly man. He asked me to breakfast with him
tomorrow morng.
