On Saturday Octr. 21st. Came down stairs for the first time.
Major Dyson had left some coins for me to look at, of which
Emma began to take a ############## list ^(under my direction). ########^A gold coin (Ferdinand?) of Philip the Catholic & Isabel
is very curious, & resolves the problem relative to the Eagle
behind the escutcheon, ^on the marble slab dug up in St. Thomas’s St. I am now of opinion it may only
have one head, & have been executed before 1579, when
Charles V. was elected Emperor. ā I felt very weak towards
the close of the day, but sat up till 9 oC. ā Maria, at my request,
wrote to ^Melissa ## Palmer# at Hambledon, to enquire respecting the MS. Lexicon I had formerly
seen in the library at Southend, madewritten on vellum fol. temp. Edw. IV (1474)
See Journal for 1821. p. 312.
