Sunday 23^d. Rain in torrents all the morning. I had

made my mind up to walk to Fulham, so after waiting till

past 5oC. in the hope it might clear up, I took my umbrella

& resolved to try if I could not proceed. Fortunately the

rain had now in great measure subsided, so with a very

little wet and a considerable portion of mud, I arrived

at Cole Hill.
