30 June

Friday 30th. At Bodln all day and, as I had finished all I wished

to do ############at present relative to the ^Holkham Catalogue, I employed myself

all day in transcribg. the text of King Horn from MS. Laud 108;

but which I had not time to finish. ^Called on the Principal & took leave of him In the Ev’g drank tea with

Mr. Davies, & went with him to look at the New Baths lately

made on the bank of the Isis or Cherwell. Packed up my

things readiness to start tomorrow morng.*

*Mem. Before I left Oxford, I received

very unexpectedly from the Rector

of Exeter, a letter in the name of the

College requestg my acceptance

of a 5.0.0. note for the service

I had rendered them.

This I did not look for, &

indeed, ####would rather have

declined, but on consulting

with Bliss, thought it best

to accept it, & send a

civil answer. ———
