Thursday 31.st. Henry ^left town #### this morn’g. ########for Lockinge where he is
to meet Weyland Powell, & shoot with him. He/may then, probably, go on
to my Aunt’s at Beech House.– At Musm. from ½ past 9 till 4. Went
with Mr Horne to see the New Building, ^for the King’s Library, at #### which I am much dis=
appointed. There was introduced to Mr Tyndale, a ####Family Trustee – as
representative of the Cotton family.– He told me to was with Ld. Spencer,
last week, & his Lordship was good enough to express himself in my
favor. “You have Lord S__’s best wishes”– were Mr T’s words. – I
forgot to say, Mr Petrie returned yesterday, & came to Musm. for a
few moments. He criticised Palgrave‘s paper in Quartly a good
deal, & pointed out some grievous blunders in it,– such as con-
founding Albinus, abbot of S. Augustine’s, & Albinus or Alcuin of
Tours;—also of supposing Matth. Westr., Florilegus – or whoever he
is, to be earlier than Florence of Worcester,- when this work – “Flores
Historiarum”, was compiled by Roger Wendover in ^the 13th Centy!—
Mr P. will see me again during the week.
