Sunday 7th. Lovely day. Chapel. At 11 oC. went to St. Peter’s
church, & sat in Mrs Bliss’s pew, with whom & Miss Bell,
I afterwards went home, & took tiffin. I breakfasted also
with Cosens, where were a party of 6 or 7. In the afternoon,
walked with Mayo to Iffley, & in the Ev’g with Butt, another
of our Hall#####. I forgot to say I called again yesterday
Monday 8th morn’g on the Rector of Exeter, & remained
with him till one oC. I read over & collated the Deed
of Endowment of ##########^Manhynyæt [Menhenniot] & looked over their other
papers, which I am to come and arrange on some future
occasion. They still have in their possession all the letters
& documents relative to the surrender of their Plate
for the use of K. Charles I. in 1642. some of which
are exceedingly curious. They appear to have been
very unwilling to comply with the royal request.
