Saturday 9th. At Musm. f’m ½ past 9 till 4. Contd. S.
& examined books. Fine at last.– Nothing yet has
transpired from the Ab’p. I am tired of waiting, and
as I am determined to see dear M. before I go into
Norfolk, I think of starting to Brighton next week!
Finished my letter to Slight, & sent it by mail, to-
gether with his drawing, and another of my own.– They
ought to print my letter*, but I do not think they will.
In Ev’g read Herodotus & Pausanias. I have finished
the text of the latter, & am now reading Taylor’s notes.
I had heard he was a Platonist, but had no notion
he had gone so far as these notes prove. For my
part, I laugh both at him & his opponents!
*The substance was printed in the ^Report of proceedings of the Portsmouth Lity
& Phil. Socy. for 1827
