Wednesday 9th. At Musm. from ½ past 9. till ½ past 12. Then
went to the booksale at Squibbs, which began about one oC.
There were very few present, & those chiefly coin-dealers:
Cureton, Young, Plumley, Till, Burton &c. No bookseller of
any note. On this account the books sold very much
below their value, and I was tempted to become a consi=
derable purchaser. I subjoin a list of those bought, and

I consider these uncommon bargains, as they are all
bound, & in good condition. For another 10.£ note, I could
have bought every thing I wanted, but I was afraid of
going too far, & therefore suffered the followg. books to
escape me. Lot 202. Combe, Nummi in Museo Guill. Huntere,
vol. 4to Lond. 1782. 1.18.0, ## Lot. 219. Nummismata Pembrochiæ,
2 T. 4to. large paper, 1746. £2.4.0; Lot. 222. Receuil des Me-
dailles des Rois peu connues, 4to Par. 1762. 8.6; and one or
two more. There were a good collection also of books on English
coins, which sold proportionally cheap. I inquired who
bought the Eutropius yesterday, & was told, Mr Lawford, book-
seller of Saville Row, for £6.18.6 This was certainly less than
its value. At ½ past two oC. I went back to the Musm. and
remained there till 5oC.
